Parallel Water Fountain

The Pipcar parallel water fountain is the ideal way to cool cores where low-pressure direct water-cooling is felt necessary.  It is designed as a simple plug-in component.  It is universal and has been uniquely design optimised for either central (tube) feed or return (drain) giving maximum coolant flow rate in either situation.  O-rings are fitted either side of the feed/return channel to eliminate water leakage.

Figure 1 together with table 1 show the available sizes.

Core Drilling diameter, mm. Fountain tube diameter, mm.
1.00 - 1.40 0.80
1.50 - 2.00 1.25
2.00 - 3.00 1.65
3.00 - 4.00 2.45
4.00 - 5.00 2.95 / 3.15
5.00 -6.00 3.95
6.00 - 7.00 4.95
7.00 - 10.00 5.95
10.00 - xxx 7.95

In general, the core should be drilled out to the largest possible diameter that can be accommodated without unduly weakening it. The appropriate size water fountain tube should then be chosen in accordance with table 2. Then select the optimum size manifold (body) to suit the specific tool layout.

When using central (tube) feed to the core tip, the locating pin should be sited on the outlet side of the waterway for maximum coolant flow rate.  Alternatively, when using the central tube as the return (drain), the locating pin should be sited on the feed side of the waterway.

Temperature Ranges

Pipcar parallel water fountains are suitable for use between -400C and +1250C although please note that the smaller diameter fountain tubes are not generally recommended for use with chilled water (below 100C) because of the increased pressure drop penalty.

Materials

Manifold/body; Electroless nickel-plated brass to BS2874 CZ131.
Fountain tube; Electroless plated copper to BS2871 C106 (ISO-CU-DHP).

O ring; Viton.

Ordering

PWF - manifold diameter x fountain tube diameter x fountain length, e.g. PWF16 x 2.95 x 160
